basho_bench for Antidote

Overview

For general information about basho_bench, please refer to the original README

Basho Bench is a benchmarking tool created to conduct accurate and repeatable performance tests and stress tests, and produce performance graphs.

Benchmarking Antidote

Two files were added to the original basho_bench for benchmarking Antidote:

  • src/basho_bench_driver_antidote_pb.erl: defines the initialization of a benchmarking thread and how it executes transactions.
  • examples/antidote_pb.config: contains the bench benchmark parameters and an explanation of each of them.

Compile

$ make

Run a benchmark

$ ./_build/default/bin/basho_bench examples/antidote_pb.config

At the end of the benchmark, results will be available in CSV format in the tests/current/ directory. Now you can generate a graph:

$ make results
$ open tests/current/summary.png

What can I do with it?

In its current state the benchmark allows running all kinds of transactions provided by the antidote interfacce. The available datatypes included in the benchmark as of today are the following Antidote’s operation-based CRDTs:

  • Sets: antidote_crdt_orset and antidote_crdt_set_rw,
  • Counters: antidote_crdt_counter,
  • Registers: antidote_crdt_lwwreg and antidote_crdt_mvreg.

For instructions on how to use them please refer to our configuration file: examples/antidote_pb.config
