Audio-switching issue with Firefox #1539
Labels
Comments
I have this issue as well on Windows 11. I used to just use the Reset Per-App Audio option from the right-click menu on the taskbar button, but now I've been digging through settings to get there. I'll have to see if the manual playback device change works. |

Sorry, I can't figure out where the option mentioned in the commit even
after updating, is this in a beta branch or something?

Ahh excellent, thank you. I don't suppose there's a chance you could
include an option to do this whenever I press the hotkey to change playback
devices? I understand why you wouldn't want that to be the default
behavior, but I never use per-app audio playback on a different device than
my windows default so it'd be really handy.

What happened?
Sometimes at random SoundSwitch will fail to switch the default playback device for Firefox when using the hotkey, and switching the default audio device in Windows doesn't fix it. Once it starts, the hotkey will not change the default audio device for Firefox, but Windows and anything else that uses the default playback device works fine, but Firefox refuses. This is an issue with SS though, not Firefox, because going into the SS menu and manually changing the playback device works and makes the hotkey start working for Firefox again. Unfortunately I have no idea what causes it to stop working, sometimes it's on boot but also sometimes it's when the PC has been running for hours.
Step to reproduce
Intermittent - switching the default playback device with the hotkey instead of the app menu.
Version
6.11.0 and older versions as well
What version of Windows are you seeing the problem on?
Windows 7
