After reading AL news, I started to check what was our licensing for PKGBUILD.

All our PKGBUILDs have this mention:

# This file is part of BlackArch Linux ( https://www.blackarch.org/ ).
# See COPYING for license details.

COPYING

It contains this sentence:

The list of authors (AUTHORS) must be distributed in its original form with all redistributions of the source code.

The issue is, we don't have a AUTHORS file anymore since 2014 as we track contributors via git.

COPYING seems to be BSD 3-Clause License unless there is the previously mentioned sentence added to the list of conditions.

Since we don't plan to add an AUTHORS file, we should remove this line.

At the state of the art, I think it is better that line will be removed because now it has not value. If needed, it could be re-added in the future.

Since AL agreed to move to 0BSD license, what if you re-create the COPYING file by using 0BSD GitHub license template so, when a user clicks on it, he/she can have a summarized view like:

as occurs, for example, on Nixpkgs (MIT licensed).

0BSD is not shown directly on the GitHub License template list but you can create it on BlackArch repo by https://github.com/BlackArch/blackarch/community/license/new?branch=main&filename=COPYING&template=0bsd
