Effect Spore Glitch

After effect spore activating against the first Team Aqua grunts Skrelp and causing it to fall asleep after it woke up it attack it caused effect spore to activate again ,but no status was caused. It also didnt have any effects of a status such as becoming slower or getting damaged over time. I believe that maybe it tried to poison the Skrelp but couldn't so it just didn't give it any status.
