Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss a Thing: Wrong OD drain rate #3
Comments
For RB1/2/ and 3, the tick rate standard setting, as outlined by Harmonix in their authoring documentations, is 480. I believe the OD drain and gain rates are off because the BEAT track is probably edited to be different than RB4s. (for animation purposes) |
Personally I think it's more important for the gameplay than animations to be accurate? but it's always annoyed me that animations and gameplay are interconnected in this way. I checked I Don't Want to Miss at least, and yeah in RB4 it normally drains in half-time. Any plans to change it? Would a dark fate would befall me if I changed it manually? Halls of Valhalla is already draining in half time. Comparing to a video of RB4, it seems a regular OD depletion rate was intended. I couldn't find an alternate source to verify that this rate never changes at any point in the song, but I don't see any reason why it would. (It's going to be pretty impossible to beat scores made with the half-time chart though.) |
The file in this project has the beats in the BEAT track spaced 480 ticks apart. The game has the beats spaced 960 ticks apart. It is a discrepancy. The song's tick rate is correct, but the Overdrive BEAT track has inconsistent timing with the game. ie the value of 480 in the header is correct, but the values of 480 in the BEAT track are not. It should be 960 in the beat track with drain marks spaced two "chart beats" apart |
The drain rate is also half what was intended for most of With Arms Wide Open. I feel like if you gotta insist on changing the drain rate, you maybe should take the extra step of rebalancing the energy placement. I tried the intended drain rates and it was mostly fine, except... Certainly the animations on Halls was a bit too intense, uh, not humanly possible without accidentally flinging your arms off or something. |
Ill be making a new folder for songs that have been edited like this, to revert the beat track. The folder will be called scorehero. |
Escape is also affected. Drains at half speed. |
The song in RB4 drains at half the normal rate at 960 ticks per OD beat drain. BEAT track in midi I extracted from the project file is set to 480 ticks per OD beat drain
