How to customize the 404 (not found) page ?

I can't get Cecil to use the template I created in layouts\_default\404.html.twig.

I need to understand what configuration is required.

Hello @lucky1er, by default Cecil generate an empty page based on the default template: https://github.com/Cecilapp/Cecil/blob/f5fd320136570f79c9495b789ef73849c925cfd7/resources/layouts/_default/404.html.twig

You can override this template in your project by creating a Twig template with the same name (404.html.twig) in layouts or in layouts/_default folder (as you wish) and... that's all.

If you want to manage the Markdown content of the 404 page, you must create a 404.md file at the root of the pages folder, with the following front matter variables:

layout: 404
uglyurl: true
published: true
exclude: true

I hadn't noticed that the new version corresponded to the cecil.phar.temp file (intuitively I thought the .temp was the old one).

The temporary file should replace the phar file automatically, but sometime if the current phar file is used, Windows don't allow to replace it and the update process is abandoned.
