Description of the new feature or improvement

Could you please make the "Code page/Add signature (BOM)" option off by default? It is quite inconvenient to create new files with it switched on. Thank you for considering this change!

Do you mean OFF rather than Disabled? (Disabled means that a user is not able to interact with a control, e.g. give it a focus or change its value.) If so, can you please edit the issue's Title and Description to avoid confusion?

@javadev, what's wrong with Editor.AddUnicodeBOM option? Just curious. It works for me in the exact scenario you described. Did I miss something?

I suggest setting the default behavior after the setup. Please consider implementing this for a more seamless experience.

Up to maintainers, of course, but personally I think it's a very bad idea to change Far default settings without a really good reason.

While I agree with "Up to maintainers" but in my workflow (under Windows) I have not had any issues with BOM and I used it as default, moreover some IDEs and editors add BOM as well.
As for the Unicode text files (UTF-16), removing BOM will actually break a lot of apps (e.g. Notepad, VS Code etc).
