Bug: Backup stops after a while #7
Comments
Is your schedule set to "continuously" in the Backblaze Settings? |
Yes it is on |
There has been another unexplainable issues (#4) and it got somehow fixed by basing the docker image on ubuntu 18. |
Hi, I'm having (what I believe) is the same issue. Will try to use the Ubuntu 18 based version but thought I'd mention that in my case when the backup freezes the container is using exactly 4gb of ram (as reported by Portainer. I have 12gb in my system). |
The Ubuntu 18 build fails at the same point with nearly identical usage stats as Ubuntu 20. |
I'm on Ubuntu 18 and though it isn't every single day, I do find that the Backblaze app seems to crash about every 24 hours on most days. WINE/VNC seem to be up, but there's no app window. |
Ah that's interesting. For mine, the backblaze client just freezes up and I can't interact with the client at all until I restart the container.
I've done a little temporary fix and just set up a cron job to restart the container every 12 hours just to keep things working. Seems to be doing the trick for now.

I'll give that a whirl next time it happens. I believe the VNC session is unresponsive to user input, but I'll definitely try it again and let you know. |
No dice; VNC (via the web) comes up quickly but the icon in the tray does not respond to user input. |
Hi I'm having the same issue. |
I now have this issue myself, for now the only "solution" is to periodically restart the container. I have looked into many possible solutions, but have not found anything so far. This was introduced by a Backblaze client update. |
If you have issues with Backblaze stopping the Backup after a while, but the VNC still working, try downgrading to earlier versions, the problem seems to have been introduced in a update of the Backblaze Client. AFAIK I cannot leagally redistribute any backblaze installer binary (which the docker container doesn't btw.), but I found two likely suitable versions in the InternetArchive: (the current version is 8.0.1.595) There are releases between that, but they were not archived. I have tested, if downgrading the client works, but with a different version in between the two and it worked, but I cannot guarantee it. Downgrading can be done by downloading the older installer into a directory the docker can read, executing it with the wine command and clicking install. |
You can download old versions directly at |
Nice, thanks for sharing this. It could come in handy :) |
I'm having the same issue. Do you recomend a good version to download that works? |
This URL for downloading old versions does not seem to work any longer. Has anyone had any luck getting an older version? |
Something new about this bug? |
where i can find all the version of the backblaze app ? |
Same Problem :-) Ubuntu 22. Any fix? |
It appears backups stop entirely after a period of time
I need to restart the docker in order for it to resume
