The current data description format is clunky and too inflexible to describe everything accurately.

Consider modularization...maybe allow for custom datatypes? could be dangerous, misleading, and difficult to implement, but perhaps the benefits outweigh the downsides.

Many libraries handle unknown types very poorly... Will use a key instead.
company/game series/format style values? May want to set up a wiki page for some kinda registry
