The problem you're addressing (if any)

using the GUI, when selecting a (new) available wifi the user goes to Available networks -> click on the network -> authentication required dialog opens but is not selected.
Would be UX improvement to automatically select this dialog and have the password entry box selected.
saves the user an unnecessary manual click/move

The solution you'd like

password box automatically selected after clicking on the network

The value to a user and who that user might be

it's a minor thing, but current one is UN-intuitive UX
makes more sense to automatically have it selected

This might be solvable using Wayland xdg-activation.

This looks like nm-applet bug.
To be clear: the dialog gets focus already, but the password entry box isn't the default focus in that dialog. Nothing to do with Wayland.
