The data quality control tester is looking at the bottle and continuous data to visualize offsets between sensors in different files. From this, we can manually assign flags for things like bottle mistrips, sampling in the ship wake, etc. which wouldn't otherwise be captured or explained in the data/metadata.

Bokeh uses a server to operate in a web browser, which is powerful but also a little cumbersome and isn't practical for applications where internet is not available. For this reason, we'd like to look at an alternative GUI for loading, visualizing, and QC'ing CTD data.

This is not an alternative to ODV. There may be a future plotting update, depending on how our intermediate processing looks.

  • What is a good alternative to Bokeh?
  • What kinds of files do we want to support? I.e. final submissions vs intermediates (where columns may not have been removed)
  • Can we support a user-defined flagging schema?
  • Can we support all the sensors defined in the .XMLCON?
  • Can we support flagging of continuous data, i.e. highlighting and flagging a range of continuous data?
  • Can we add support to print out the current figure ranges?
  • Can we support stuff in a SeaSave-style format (including derived variables)?
