Product key from Medion laptop not accepted #46
Comments
Hi Captain-Chaos The legacy version ShowKeyPlus Version: 1.0.5730 I think supports XP - it's been a long time but I recall others having success with it with XP back in the day.. |
Thx. I tried, but no luck. Version 1.0.5730 also says "Invalid Key" (after saying "Retrieving Edition" for a while). I checked and double-checked that I entered it correctly. |
OK that's a pity - I will have to look into it when I release the next version - Should be just a matter of including the XP pkconfig but will have to test. XP was never part of the spec from the beginning... so we shall see what we can do...I will leave this issue open until then. |
Look to your sticker with ProductKey and find x-code like "x12-12345" then search for distro noted this code. |
I am trying to reinstall a Medion laptop from 2007 that came with Windows XP. I don't have the installation disc that came with it (if any), but it does have an authentic product key sticker on it, and a sticker saying "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP". I found a Windows XP ISO, but it must be the wrong edition because it does not accept the product key.
I'm trying to use ShowKeyPlus to identify which edition the key belongs to, but ShowKeyPlus says that the key is invalid. I am quite confident that it is not and that I made no mistakes entering it. It's quite legible and has all the expected holograms. I tried several times.
How can I help get ShowKeyPlus to identify this key?
