  • currently, the short term map simply uses a single laserscan. It is rebuilt each time with the latest laserscan when the trace value is below a set threshold. This approcach works well for most environments. However, it falters when many rotations are carried out in areas void of landmarks from the static map

  • this ndt approach could be implemented as a "long term" dynamic map to help improve performance in such environments.
