The default background is a simple blue/green gradient which will be familiar to former Metro for Discord users. You can change the background, however you should be aware of the following:

For performance reasons the backdrop filter is disabled by default.

of blur is extreme and might make Discord laggy on low-end machines. This is just a downside of CSS. - Simpler wallpapers can use a much lower amount of blur
- You can try combat this by turning on 'Enable Reduced Motion' in the Accessibility settings.

If you can't use the filters try these tips:
- A good work-around is to find a gradient background image with a similar colour profile to the wallpaper you would ordinarily use (see links section below).
- If you don't want to use the filters or a gradient background, use a simpler wallpaper, otherwise chat will be hard to read.
You can upload your image to a channel in your own private Discord server if you have one. Otherwise imgur is an OK alternative. Note that Imgur may delete your image after a period of time.

Microsoft Design Wallpapers - A collection of wallpapers used in some of Microsoft's recent marketing materials.
- Some of the 'Surface' wallpapers may work well with low amounts of blur (like 10px - 30px) or even without any.
- Note that some of the files are huge. Compressed versions can be found in the Fluent Discord server.

Wallhaven is an excellent repository of wallpapers, and is quite well organised.
- Use this link to search for gradient wallpapers. You can refine the search by selecting a colour from the filters bar.
- ⚠ Some results may be NSFW even when 'SFW' is the only filter enabled.
