Notes on NASA CMR

NASA CMR (Core Metadata Repository) is a metadata system that catalogs all data and service metadata records for the EOSDIS system. CMR is the backbone of NASA Earth data search.

CMR provides RESTful interface for metadata providers. CMR also runs two servers - one for user acceptance testing (UAT) and one for production. This document explains how to set up account for UAT CMR.

It is required to test all metadata with UAT CMR. To supply TerraFusion metadata into CMR, you will need an UAT account. This account is different from NASA URS account and you need to sign up although you might have NARA URS account already.

Once you finish signing up for UAT account, you need to contact [email protected] with your UAT userid so that NASA CMR team can setup data provider id and associate it with your UAT account. For example, FUSION is given to us as data provider id. This id is required when you make CMR API calls. The same id can be linked to many UAT users (e.g., hyoklee and richielo).

After ingestion is done, you can search for collection and granule using https://search.uat.earthdata.nasa.gov/search server. Please note that you need to login first into search server to see search result for TerraFusion product because ingested metadata are only visible to account holders.
