appimage launcher broke something, uninstalled now getting errors on a program that worked 5 minutes earlier

running Pure Ref 1.11 from Pamac on Manjaro. worked fine.
saw there's a Pure Ref 2. it's an appimage.
saw AppImageLauncher recommended for integrating into system.
Installed AppImageLauncher
Tried to run Pure Ref 2. Daemon engaged, app moved. Program didn't open.
"child process setup failed" type errors.
Uninstalled AppImageLauncher
Reinstalled Pure Ref 1.11 from Pamac again,
now a program that was working only today is giving me this error:
"Warning: Could not start program '/usr/bin/PureRef' with arguments ''.
Warning: Child process set up failed: execve: No such file or directory"

it seems that something was changed by AppImageLauncher that was not reverted when I uninstalled it.
I wonder if any other programs broke.

I've tried running PureRef2 before and it never broke PureRef 1.11 so right now AppImageLauncher seems to be the culprit.
