Reporting RP profiles that infringe on Blizzard's Terms of Service
Starting with version 1.4.0, Total RP 3 is now using methods provided by Blizzard to send add-on data via logged messages (SendAddonMessageLogged
). This means Blizzard's consumer support is now able to look at the content of profiles you received from other players and use that content as evidence in case of infringement of the Code of Conduct.
Here's what the Code of Conduct says about Communications:
When participating in communication of any kind (chat, voice communication, group finder), you are responsible for how you express yourself. You may not use language that could be offensive or vulgar to others. Hate speech and discriminatory language are inappropriate, as is any obscene or disruptive language. Threatening or harassing another player is always unacceptable, regardless of the language used. Violating any of these expectations will result in account restrictions. More serious and repeated violations will result in greater restrictions.
Note: For reporting doxxing (sharing your private information) you can use this support article specifically https://battle.net/support/help/product/wow/197/1292/solution.
You can open a support ticket with Blizzard here https://battle.net/support/help/product/wow/197/1501/solution. It always helps the people that will deal with your ticket if you have a specific date and time for when you saw this profile. In Total RP 3, you can look at the last time you have seen a profile in the Directory, in the tooltip that appears when you place your cursor over the line of the profile. Clicking on the "Report profile" buttons on the profile view or the target frame (while targeting the character to report) will also indicate that time in the window that appears.
Since this is still fairly new even to Blizzard, you might get an answer from their support that says they do not have access to add-on data: this is an erroneous answer and is no longer the case, you can link them this web page in your answer.
Yes. For higher efficiency, your Blizzard (Battle.net) friends are using a different method that allows data compression, higher bandwidth and is necessary for having cross-server and cross-faction communication, but at the cost of using logged messages. This means Blizzard's consumer support will NOT be able to see the content of RP profiles of your Battle.net friends. Choose your friends wisely.
Also please know that this reporting feature is not intended to report RP profiles that you deem of poor quality. Wasting Blizzard's consumer support time will not be well received and using this feature for griefing will likely backfire. This feature is intended for reporting content that goes against Blizzard's Code of Conduct such as (but not limited to) harassment, doxxing, threats, hate speech, obscene language.
Logged add-ons messages will appear like regular whispers in the tool you usually use to look at chat logs. They are recognizable as they clearly look like add-on data, with some metadata. We tried to limit the amount of metadata to make it easier for you to read the logs, but some amount is required for technical reasons.
