Insists on downloading 1080p mpeg when higher resolution is available

I have confirmed with the browser, vp09 is offered in 1440 and 4k, but for whatever reason no matter if you select "best resolution" or 1440 or whatever, video downloader will only download a 1080p mpeg, even though the mpeg button is greyed out.

I figured it out, it's because items are protected with DRM. It can still be done, but there are extra steps.
