When multiple/many tabs are open like here
, then it is not very easy to see which one is the current/selected tab.
The contrast between the current/selected tab and the others should be larger.

Sorry and apologies for reporting an issue from not-the-latest version.
Yes, the active tab is much more easily recognisable in the latest version.
I appreciate the approach for not wasting screenspace.
However, what I -personally- don't like is that with many tabs open, it is now not so easy to move the window around with the mouse because the area on the title bar which must be pointed to has become very small (see pink frame):
Note that the Microsoft Office applications Word/Excel/Outlook also use the title bar, namely for the search field, but apparently they distinguish between
click: put the cursor there
click and hold/drag: move the window
(see screen recording). If WinMerge would behave similarly, that would be great.
