When mapping many things with lots of details it is a bit annoying always having to click "more fields". So a feature for power users to skip that one click for "more fields" would be nice.

As a more automatic solution, perhaps just always remember the last state of "more fields" (whether it was expanded or not?) for the duration of the session (or even saved across sessions, but that is probably not too important)
That way power users would need to expand "more fields" just once, and it would always open expanded, but other users can decide to collapse it again, and it would then be collapsed in subsequent edits (until is is expanded again; you get the idea).
