POI list does not show nearest POIs #830

I can reproduce this when testing in Nuuk. At my regular location in Central Europe this isn't the case. (Made a video but too big for GitHub :( ) |
somewhat offtopic @mcliquid, but I always reduce size (of both images and videos) before uploading to github, i.e.:
It not only avoid the issue with too large uploads being refused, but makes the GitHub issue more readable when the image/video is not taking up the whole screen... |
Yup, I confirm this is a bug. Might be related either to the geohash generator, or to a distance function I use. Will fix in the next version. Thank you Sarah for spotting it! |
I compressed the video 👍 screen-20250123-183354.2.mp4 |
Yup, this is an upstream problem: anovis/proximity_hash#12 Forking the library for now to fix it. |
Fixed in 5.4. |
When I move around the map, EveryDoor suddenly makes a very odd choice of POIs to show and will often ignore the closest ones.
Here is a screenshot from a street close-by, showing the closest POIs correctly:
Now move the map a tiny bit and all POIs disappear from the list:
I've been using EveryDoor for a while and this behaviour is new to me. The main difference in my usage pattern is that I am rather far north, way past 60° N. Depending on how distances are calculated, there might be some funny effects here.
