4. You are redirecting all application console output to a log file

Suggestions:

1. Configure your 'sync_dir' correctly in your config file as you are specifying a --confdir path
2. Configure application logging correctly - please read the documentation

A new release is not going to solve these issues for you.

What version of Ubuntu are you trying to install on? The OpenSuSE packages I have tested on most versions without issue using default installs
