What

Create a browser extension as a means to ship the javscript required to enhance the details and file upload components so that they work better with dragon.

Why

This is related to issues previously raised to do with Dragon not interacting well with our components:

Both these issues contain related issues and links to bug reports sent to Dragon.

The hypothesis is that this would mean that we ship less js in GOV.UK Frontend and those who would find the js enhancements useful could use it if they want.

For reference, a useful article on creating browser extensions.

Assumptions

  • We are able to target only services using govuk-frontend
  • Dragon users will be able to find and use our extension

Timebox

3 days

We should review progress after this period of time has elapsed, even if the spike has not been 'completed'

Who is working on this?

Spike lead: Anika (presumed)

Spike buddy: Owen (presumed)

Done when

You may find it helpful to refer to our expected outcomes of spikes.

  • Questions have been answered or we have a clearer idea of how to get to our goal
  • Findings have been reviewed and agreed with at least one other person
  • Findings have been shared, e.g: via a write-up on the ticket, at a show & tell or team meeting
