Feature Request: Add Support for Google Vertex AI

Please explain the motivation behind the feature request.

In our enterprise environment, strong governance and robust compliance are essential. Currently, Goose supports OpenAI, which has been beneficial; however, integrating Gemini on Vertex AI would unlock additional opportunities for enhanced data governance, security, and tailored enterprise workflows. With the Gemini API, enterprises can benefit from advanced AI capabilities alongside improved control and monitoring, reducing risk and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Describe the solution you'd like

We propose that Goose expands its API support to include Gemini on Vertex AI. This integration should allow users to easily switch between OpenAI and Gemini models based on their specific governance or performance needs. Ideally, this would involve a configuration option within Goose to select the desired AI provider, along with thorough documentation and guidelines to help enterprise customers implement and maintain secure, compliant AI operations.

Describe alternatives you've considered

One alternative is continuing to use only OpenAI; however, while OpenAI offers strong performance, it may not fully address the compliance and governance needs of all enterprise scenarios. Another option could be developing a custom integration internally, but this would significantly increase development overhead and complexity for businesses looking for a plug-and-play solution.

Additional context

Enterprise customers are increasingly demanding AI solutions that not only deliver high performance but also offer strict governance controls and transparent data handling practices. Supporting Gemini on Vertex AI would allow Goose to meet these requirements and differentiate itself in the competitive landscape.
