Road Sign Elements

The Washington State Department of Transportation has received federal funding to develop a data dictionary for road signs. We would like to be in alignment with IFC but it appears that the Type, Entity, and Property Set for Road signs are intended to exist but have not been developed.

How do we go about contributing to the development of road signs in IFC section 7.9?

Sign is in 6.6 because it is part of the shared infra elements.

It has a series of property sets and quantity sets.

Best place for discussion is probably https://github.com/buildingSMART/IFC4.x-IF where most of the infra related topics get discussed.

This IFC5-development repository is still very much on a technical level involved in novel forms of encoding IFC data.

For sure. I just meant to point out the basis that currently exists. Due to backwards compatibility, concrete entities with a predefined type cannot really be refined in domain specific chapters. Specific properties can still be created. Probably bSDD is the most pragmatic way to advance on this as it allows to use the concepts in current editions of IFC and integrates with existing tooling.
