The Washington State Department of Transportation has received federal funding to develop a data dictionary for road signs. We would like to be in alignment with IFC but it appears that the Type, Entity, and Property Set for Road signs are intended to exist but have not been developed.

How do we go about contributing to the development of road signs in IFC section 7.9?

Sign is in 6.6 because it is part of the shared infra elements.

https://ifc43-docs.standards.buildingsmart.org/IFC/RELEASE/IFC4x3/HTML/lexical/IfcSign.htm

It has a series of property sets and quantity sets.

Best place for discussion is probably https://github.com/buildingSMART/IFC4.x-IF where most of the infra related topics get discussed.

This IFC5-development repository is still very much on a technical level involved in novel forms of encoding IFC data.

I appreciate the prompt response, we had looked at 6.6 and didn't feel it adequately addressed road signs but I will take the conversation to the other form as recommended.

@MichaelRossJacobs, we will present our results how to export traffic signs in IFC 2x3, 4.0 and 4.3 during next week's infraBIMopen conference in Tampere, Finland. If it is of interest to you, you are invited to attend, or we can setup a call afterwards, where we present our results to you and your colleagues. Greetings, Rico
