I created a new branch and tried to push my changes to the branch so I could create a PR and attach the fix to it, but I got a permission denied error. How can I contribute to this repo?

The usual way to contribute on GitHub is to fork the repo into your own GitHub namespace (e.g. my fork exists at https://github.com/kbrose/article-tagging) where you have permissions to push changes, create a branch, and then submit a Pull Request back to the upstream repository. Since it sounds like you've already cloned this repository, you'll also need to handle multiple remotes. Let me know if you have further questions.
