When should the actual build happen!? (when using catkin)

Hello!
I'd love to try out your slam program and am trying to build it on my computer.
I'm following the instructions (although I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 and ROS Noetic) and I get to the bit where I run 'catkin_make' the second time.

All that happens is that it prints these lines and then nothing else happens after:

Base path: /home/fred/catkin_plvins
Source space: /home/fred/catkin_plvins/src
Build space: /home/fred/catkin_plvins/build
Devel space: /home/fred/catkin_plvins/devel
Install space: /home/fred/catkin_plvins/install

#### Running command: "make cmake_check_build_system" in "/home/fred/catkin_plvins/build"
####
####
#### Running command: "make -j8 -l8" in "/home/fred/catkin_plvins/build"
####

I tried to run those commands myself inside the 'build' folder but nothing at all happens.
No error messages or warnings or anything.

When is the actual build meant to happen?
I have almost never used catkin before so am very nooby with that.

Does anyone have any advice?

你把代码放到catkin_plvins文件夹的src下面 然后catkin_make即可
