@Udayan12167 and I would like to be team leaders for the core team. So we'd basically have a mutual understanding between ourselves. Also, we're both applying for the core team, which I think is big enough to accomodate two leaders (this would also help split the workload). It also helps when one of us isn't available.

As to how we'd work it out, I suggest we have a democratic process with our team members to resolve conflicts (though there won't be any, I'm sure).

Not sure, I think this kind of defeats the purpose of a team leader^^ Better create two teams if necessary^^
