Concise Description

Enabling the blocklist feature (with no channels added) causes Firefox’s RAM usage to spike to 100% upon opening a YouTube channel (via middle-click) from a currently playing video. Disabling the blocklist resolves the issue and prevents the memory surge.

Additional Context:
Restarting Firefox or disabling the blocklist consistently prevents the RAM spike.

Hi and thank @EvilHumphrey! Cpu too? did anybody else get this yet? Can't imagine our code combined with youtube-changes to cause an eternal loop there, and that would usually rather take CPU only or first. Somebody please look at the code

Hello! I did not observe any significant CPU usage. However, I realized that Firefox’s “Recommended settings for this PC” were enabled, which includes hardware acceleration—a detail I initially forgot to mention. In my experience, Firefox can occasionally exhibit memory leaks, particularly when numerous extensions are in use.

Earlier today, I noticed high memory usage after disabling the blocklist feature. Following some adjustments aimed at addressing potential memory leaks, I re-enabled the blocklist feature and then loaded a YouTube creator page. With hardware acceleration turned off, the memory usage remained stable. I apologize if this issue turns out to be specific to my setup. Nonetheless, I sincerely appreciate the extension and thank you for creating it!
