For easier mobile or tablet use it would be cool to have an app to directly snap a picture and send it.

I am trying to implement a memoji/sticker type plugin for Converse using the camera with WebRTC to create a cartoon image from a snapped picture.
Supporting simple snap and send could be a good starting point for this project :-)

That is a good find a good candidate for implementing a snapshot converse plugin.
I worked on something like this a few years ago. For every message sent, a gif was made via the camera and sent with the message.
Can try to dig up the old code somewhere.
