Background

As politics try to find a way to ease the "lockdown" rapid antigen-tests like these from Abbot [1], Roche and Siemens are getting more and more considered a possible solution [2]. Currently, there is neither a nationwide solution for quick result transmission nor a standardized "certificate" for negative results which are mandatory for e.g hospital visits.
In the last few days I helped setting up a "Schnelltestzentrum" an found out that there is persistent confusion around the CWA and the result transmission.

The test run lasted 5 days and we performed about 1200 rapid ag-test:
The two most frequently asked questions about the CWA where:

  • Why is the result not in the CWA? (n=70)
  • If the result is positive, can I include it in the CWA or do I need to wait until the PCR has finished? (n=26)

As the number of Rapid-test-test-centers is rapidly growing, a unified and robust CWA implementation would be useful.

Feature description

Client/Patient side:

  • Scan a QR-Code
  • Get 20 minutes later the result and a certificate with the name on it
  • Privacy-preserving: The name is saved in the QR-code and is not submitted to the server

Test-centre side:

  • A clean Desktop interface to create a QR-Code / Barcode pair.
  • An App where a performed test is registered and the result can be entered 15-30 minutes later.

Possible Implementation

This is a great idea that https://bioscitec.de/ are also very interessted in an we already offer some parts of your proposal:

We have system, consisting of hardware and software, to scan a variable number of rapid tests, analyze their result and send it as a https json request to an online interface. The biggest pro of our system is that we are not limited to any specific type of rapid test. Only the produce of the rapid test has to work with us to work out all the regulatory requirements.

I attach a short pdf and how we imagined our system to work with a contact tracing app in an i.e. cultural event application. It is in german but mostly containing images, so I hope this is not that big of a issue.

If interested feel free to contact me via github or our website

@Troillius Please consider that there have been multiple updates of the data handling process since this draft your provided in your posting. pass4all as one of the partners like bioscitec and our company 360x media GmbH in the project you mentioned massively developed the data handling process for a maximum of optimal user experience. We also are in intensive exchange with other networks in the event industry and general testing partners.

@ interested people to the work of this project group, please feel free to contact any of the above mentioned partners if you like to benefit from all experiences we made and knowledge we evolved in the past 6 months.
