My response for why I believe it should be an option if supported:
I think it being optional is the only way to support something like this. A toggle to 'include added elevation on token' or some better name for the same.
Currently I sometimes use creative elevations to create two different view points on the same elevation.
For example inside a fort with walls vs out might have two different sets of walls that block their vision since there is some overlap of what they can see. The only way to support overlap is to use two different sets of walls like they are different floors of a building.
In this case I wouldn't want it displaying the added elevation as it would be incorrect. Inside the fort might be 200 or something silly so players don't accidentally activate it and outside would be 0. Even though both are at ground level.
Also for those that prefer to keep their tokens look clean they might not want it always showing on maps that have elevation.
