Writing unit tests for rate limiting on a component

I have a simple component that validates email and store it in db.

try {
    $this->rateLimit(6);
    $this->validate();
    // DB::insert statement
} catch (TooManyRequestsException $exception) {
    $this->resetErrorBag();
    $this->addError('email', "Slow down! Please wait another $exception->secondsUntilAvailable seconds.");
}

Now, under my unit test.

$component = Livewire::test(EmailComponent::class);

$component->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save') // 7th call
    ->assertSessionHasErrors('email'); // doesn't work

Any suggestion on testing rate limit?

Hey, could you please double check if assertHasErrors() works instead of assertSessionHasErrors()?

When I use an invalid email 'required|string|email:rfc,dns|max:255'

$component->set('email', 'test@gmail')
    ->call('save')
    ->assertHasErrors(); // works

But when I call multiple times

$component->set('email', 'test@gmail')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->assertHasErrors(); // does not work

When using correct email

$component->set('email', '[email protected]')
    ->call('save')
    ->assertHasErrors(); // fails --> this is correct because there are no errors

$component->set('email', '[email protected]')
    ->call('save')
    ->call('save')
    ->assertHasErrors(); // does not fail --> test is green
