List open applications

Hello, sorry to ask this question here but I don't know where to look. The following command returns a list of currently open windows:

rofi -show window -display-window-icons -display-drun

Can you please tell me how you retrieve this list from the command line?
I'm aware that this isn't the best place to ask the question, but thanks to those who'll take the time to help me.
