I have removed my security key(youbikey) from my II, later I have tried to add it again and received this error message:

InvalidStateError: The user attempted to register an authenticator that contains one of the credentials already registered with the relying party.

Thanks for the report!

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it. Here's what I tried:

  • Add yubikey as recovery mechanism
  • Remove yubikey recovery mechanism
  • Re-add yubikey as recovery mechanism

However I can reproduce something similar by having the same yubikey used both as a regular device and as a recovery device. Could that be the issue?

Also, what browser are you using?

Thanks for the reply. I'm using chrome, currently the same yubikey is being used on windows as a device, so I can login in II using my yubikey, but not add it as a recovery device again.

Hi @victorcastro89, are you still experiencing the issue? Did any browser update change the situation?
