Replacement for on_member_join event?

I know that there is docs about on_member_join() is being removed due to it's unreliability. I've tried to use the guild.members object to get a list of members and use it to get new members but it doesn't work. The members list stayed the same after my account left the server (I guess it's due to cache?). So how can I achieve something like this as replacement?

Instead of guild.members, guild.subscribe() should be used. Most of the development occurs on the rebase branch, 1.x.x is abandoned.

I think the best thing you can do is polling (checking a source at periodic intervals to find changes) using guild.subscribe(), or maybe, you could use on_message on a welcome channel or such.

2 minutes to run in a guild with 10 members? That doesn't sound right...

Polling is very spammy and discord doesn't like it. It would also not work with the library's current caching situation.

I'm working on v2.0 guild members right now, and I'll add support for polling. However, I recommend fetching all the members when you need them, not on a schedule. This is what the client does.

guild.subcribe() should indeed fill up the cache, but polling probably won't work.
Give this a read if you want to know more about guild members. Better support is coming in v2.0.

How should I use the function?
Should I put it in an async task loop to run it for like, every 5 seconds? Or just run it once, then it will automatically start a task loop and update the cache with the delay given in the argument?

That's polling, polling is suspicious and probably resource intensive. Better support for members is being added soon, but possibly polling it every 30-45 minutes with random delays? I doubt discord wba to check for periodic scanning but no harm in that, if you don't want to poll, check if your server has a welcome bot, or system messages when a user joins (ex - 'name joined, we hope you brought pizza')

The server have no welcome message message when the user joins, but users reacts the reactions on the bot message to verify. Is there any event for that? Or can I just simply get all the reaction of the members in a specific message?

You can use the on_raw_reaction_add event. You can use the payload.member attribute to get the member that added the reaction, I'm unsure if discord sends all raw reaction add events to the client though, no harm in trying. Let us know how it goes :)
