App doesn't work properly on Android 3-4

There is no crash report or even a force close, the application just won't set 
off the alarm or background noise at the appropriate time. I guess the best 
thing to do is describe the issue: I can set the app to  go off at say 3:00am 
until 3:45am for five random length periods with an alarm and it will not ever 
go off, I can set it to background noise choosing any of the three available 
and it will also not go off. No matter what time of day or what settings I use 
(am, pm, background noise, alarm, random length, fixed period) the app never 
goes off. It opens correctly and never crashes so I'm not sure what else to 
tell you, I wish it did crash because then I could at least attach the report.
I'm running on the Galaxy Nexus on 4.0.3 ICS on a custom ROM with a custom 
kernel, but this problem persists with a stock image and kernel as well.
