Let JHub run it's proxy-public, and install and use Nginx on a node to proxy that to a public IP/dns name

Find the internal IP of the proxy-public:

In /etc/nginx/sites-available/default:
- change the internal IP address accordingly, to that of the proxy-public service
- handle websockets

Above the server { ... } directive:

# If Upgrade is defined, Connection = upgrade
# If Upgrade is empty, Connection = close

}

Then, change the location / { ... } directive to

	location  / {
	proxy_pass         http://${pp_internalIP}:80;
 	proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
 	proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme;
	proxy_set_header Host $host;
	proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;

    # websocket headers
    proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade;
    proxy_set_header Connection $connection_upgrade;

}

# Restart nginx on the controller
# Note: if the websocket settings are not there, you'd get a "connecting to kernel" message in the notebook, and a time-out message in the nginx error logs.
