On my MacBook Pro, the host format options return these values:
family {1}: 16,8
name {2}: MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2024, Three Thunderbolt 4 ports)
product version {3}:
product sku {4}:
product manufacturer {5}: Apple Inc.
product serial number {6}: product serial number is properly displayed
product uuid {7}: product uuid is properly displayed
Product Version and Product SKU return nothing, whereas the Product Name includes extra details that aren't necessarily part of the product name (namely, the thunderbolt ports.) See "About This Mac:"
I believe that the manufacturing year and size are important enough that they should stay as part of the product name (considering Apple keeps the exact same name every single year, across versions..), but the Thunderbolt port information is not, and should be separated out into the Product Version. (M4 base has Thunderbolt 4, whereas M4 Pro/Max has Thunderbolt 5 is what brought this to my attention)
This is incredibly nitpicky, and not a real issue (hence why I did not open an issue.) I just wanted to know your thoughts on this.
I only really care because the full string is a bit too long in my opinion, and extends outside of the borders I made in my config. In the mean time, I've just been hardcoding the value to MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2024) which fits well.
