Selects getSearchResultsUsing with preload is making the call being ignored

When creating a select with a relationship and enabling preload() the getSearchResultsUsing() call is being ignored. The search is only happening against the preloaded options.

Removing preload() allows the getSearchResultsUsing() call to be successfully made.
However i'm still wanting the preload ability to have some default options that belong to the customer_id to be presented.

Same thing is happening to me. Any solution?

Couldn't find any, had to ditch the ->preload() call.
