This bug may be a driver deficiency
The solution is to buy an SSD with NVMe connection,
SATA-compatible M.2 to PCIe or M.2 to SATA conversion adapters.
However, we do not take responsibility if the SSD is not recognized even if purchased.
Please do so at your own risk.

The SSDs that are currently experiencing the unrecognition bug are
WDS500G2B0B-00YS70, but
Other SSDs may also have this problem.

We believe the reason why it is not recognized is because macOS is not a supported controller.
It may be recognized if you use the AHCI kext listed in the Dortania Guide.

If the M.2 in question is connected via USB or
2.5" SSD with SATA connection, it works fine.
(2.5 inch SSD that worked: Samsung 860 EVO 840 EVO)
