For example, if i press y on a file to copy, it highlights that file. How can i then remove this highlight?

This is akin to when you press space on a file to select, and then press u to unselect, which removes the highlight on file. Is there a similar unhighlight command for copy and cut commands?

Use the clear command (press c).

@joelim-work clear command doesn't work for me. it takes me out of lf and prompts me for a directory name. are you able to share your lf shortcut file?

I'm not using any config file, the commands and keybindings described in the documentation are provided by default.

I don't know of anything that would take you out of lf and prompt for a directory name, are you using a config file? Could you please provide that if so? Also would be helpful if you could share a screenshot/video .

The commands gets executed if you type : and then the command.

In this case you would write :clear and then confirm with ENTER within lf.

I have this in my ~/.config/lf/lfrc:

map C clear
map c copy

Perhaps it helps.
