The bdplm function re-parameterizes the classical ANCOVA model by removing the fixed intercept. This induces a correlation between mu_treatment and mu_control. To overcome this, it is necessary that we mean-center the baseline values in the ANCOVA. Either a documentation update is required or an automatic centering.
