Thanks for the suggestion @cforce !

BTW, Grafana Beyla is already integrated with Grafana Alloy, providing a similar functionality to what you are suggesting https://grafana.com/blog/2024/05/21/how-to-use-grafana-beyla-in-grafana-alloy-for-ebpf-based-auto-instrumentation/

https://grafana.com/blog/2024/05/21/how-to-use-grafana-beyla-in-grafana-alloy-for-ebpf-based-auto-instrumentation/
"At GrafanaCON last month, we announced Grafana Alloy, our open source distribution of the OpenTelemetry Collector. Alloy is a telemetry collector that is 100% OTLP compatible and offers native pipelines for OpenTelemetry and Prometheus telemetry formats, supporting metrics, logs, traces, and profiles."

From my view https://github.com/grafana/alloy is not a "open telemetry collector" distribution , at least i can't find evidence for the open/pluggable architecture (receiver, processor, exporter, extension, connector ..)

Aloy seems like mostly locked in for Grafana Cloud export and therefore misses the "openness" an Open Telemetry Collector with exchangeable plugins for the before meant collector architecture.
This is the reason an independent pluggable beyla agent as an opentelemetry collector receiver would be a real valuable otel opensource contribution .
As there is already a grafana cloud connector, i don't see any reason to use aloy.

Thanks for opening this issues, definitively a thing to do at some point. We need to something similar to this for OTEL metrics beforehand in order to make the integration possible.

I think also #1087 shall be implemented for metrics
