For example:

faust2lv2: QMAKE=$(which qmake-qt4 || which /opt/local/libexec/qt4/bin/qmake || echo qmake-qt4)

The qmake executable name on FreeBSD is qmake{version}, not qmake-qt{version}.
It would be nice if Faust compilers would understand the QMAKE environment variable for qmake.

There was #349 but I gave up on it after getting no feedback again.
Feel free to add things on top of that or rebase that (if possible).
