All the things you name are also stored in the database, which makes it sound like you didn't restore your database properly. |

Oh, I wasn't implying it was an immich issue - hence the discussion post. I was looking for help to try to solve it. My immich version was 1.124 I think.... and was trying to move to 1.128.... but now the maintainer of the bare metal package has updated everything is now up to par on bare metal. idk.

Then it sounds like your bare metal install had some weird stuff going on. Without having access to your infra it's really hard to tell. I can guarantee you that it's not an Immich issue though.

I started with Immich on bare metal, but I would like to move over to docker, because maintaining the postgres database extensions and version requirements is tidier if it is managed and compartmentalised for Immich, it seems. Following the backup and restore documentation, all data seems to be imported without error, but no user profiles, no admin, and notably, oauth is disabled (currently Authelia provides oauth on the bare metal version). It's like no import has taken place at all. Even if I created the admin with the same name etc, there are no photos. Here are notable differences from the standard dockerized setup:
I expected the app settings, config, users, and everything to be included in the database. On the bare metal (present), the database engine is shared with many other databases, so each database is backed up seperately. The globals are also backed up seperately. Only the immich database backup is restored in the restore process above.
