Add detection for Monitors which are flapping #463
Milestone
Comments
Can I ask is this enhancement being worked on and if so when is it likely to be released? |
Not actively, I've had a bunch of thoughts about it swimming around my head and just need to see about expressing them in code :) Guessing it would be useful? If so, any thoughts around how you'd like it to work welcomed! |
You could have a setting per monitor of the max number of alerts and then a duration before it starts sending alerts again.
Max-alerts=N
Suppression-period=NN
So after it has sent the Nth alert, a timer is set of NN minutes and alerts are not sent until that time expires at which point the running count is reset to zero. So the system would generate a maximum of N alerts every NN minutes for each device.
Perhaps all running counts are reset daily
OR
Count the 'down' alerts generated, if the number of alerts in last NN minutes is above a threshold N then don't send the alert. This would require you to record the time of the last N alerts for each monitor.
