Hi,

Been running crashplan for ages. Never actually been fast but I put that largely down to poor broadband. Now fully fibre and things haven't improved. In fact I think things have got slower but I don't have hard history to prove it. According to the history the backups are running at 1.8-2.1mbps.

I am actually running a two instances of crashplan on two separate machines going to the same storage. I went this way to see if that would help with getting a complete backup done quicker. So have one focused on pretty much static data and one on the data that is changing daily and the backup rates are pretty much identical.

My 'static' data completion date has gone from a year to 2.3 at some point over the past 6mths. Is there anything I can do to tune up or switch off to increase the throughput.

You don't get great upload speeds with services like crashplan, but the same applies for onedrive (even business edition) and all other I know of. I would usually get like 0.6MB/s, far below my ISP upload speed.

I've been using Crashplan Pro for several years as well and I've never had speeds (IN/OUT) other than 2-3Mbit/s. For me everything is OK.
I'm in Europe and CrashPlan Pro uses the US location. That's where I see the main problem.

many many years ago, when I started using crashplan I discussed the speed with their tech support. There is (or at least there was back then) an option to switch to different (random) server with some command from the console, but don't expect miracles, its probably useful only if you see very slow transfer rates, and it required uploading all my data again.

Is it possible to select a European data centre in Crashplan Pro? And it's okay if you have to upload everything again. Does anyone have any experience?

No idea. You would probably have to reach to their support. But let us know if you find an answer :)

after the October 14th update my speeds have been abysmal for upload. not really sure how to troubleshoot this.

hasn't been above 300kbps since.

These are my total uploads / hour for the last 90 days
image

I was able to upload about 2GB/h (=4.4 mbps), in December this dropped to about 1.2GB/h (2.6 mbps)
(this is total transfer of container, not sure how much is actual upload and how much is overhead)
300kbps sucks :)
