Proxy settings doesn't work until clicking in the gui

When setting proxy settings, the config is set correctly, but Firefox wont use them until I go in to proxy settings in the GUI and click OK.
Does any one else have this? Is there a workaround for this?
Im setting:

FF_PREF_PROXY_HTTP='network.proxy.http="my.proxy.server"'
FF_PREF_PROXY_HTTP_PORT='network.proxy.http_port=8080'
FF_PREF_PROXY_TYPE='network.proxy.type=1'
FF_PREF_PROXY_SHARE_SETTINGS='network.proxy.share_proxy_settings=true'
FF_PREF_PROXY_BACKUP_SSL='network.proxy.backup.ssl=""'
FF_PREF_PROXY_BACKUP_SSL_PORT='network.proxy.backup.ssl_port=0'
