When attempting to play certain videos with Piped Proxy disabled and Local Streams Extraction enabled (as per FAQ guidance), I encounter the error: "IOS Player response is not valid".

Details

  • App Version: 0.27.0
  • Android Version: 13
  • Instance: Default (no custom instance selected)
  • Example Video: https://youtu.be/Qsu1tKL16Do
  • Settings:
    • Disable Piped Proxy (enabled)
    • Extract Locally (enabled)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Follow FAQ steps: Disable Piped Proxy and enable Local Extraction.
  2. Attempt to play the linked video (or similar affected videos).
  3. Error appears immediately: "IOS Player response is not valid".

Expected vs Actual Behavior

  • Expected: Video plays successfully with local extraction.
  • Actual: Error blocks playback for specific videos.

Additional Context

  • This error occurs only on some videos (e.g., the linked example). Others work fine.
  • Previously encountered "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" with Piped Proxy enabled, which led me to follow the FAQ’s recommended settings.
  • Tried clearing cache and reinstalling the app—no change.
